This film is about a criminal action film, about a football hooligan that turns to a gangster. The first thing that I thought looked good about this poster was the black background. With the white writing I feel it really makes the poster feel like a gangster movie, especially with the gun across the middle of the poster.
A good way of putting the characters onto the poster is to make it suit the genre. That exactly happens on this poster with the characters being introduced on the gun, which is a choice of weapon on this film. With the characters being the same colour as the background and the white gun separating them, I feel makes the poster help get the genre across, therefore the codes and conventions used in this poster are the gun, with the characters on it, with the uniform they’re wearing and the weapons they have got.
At the top of the poster there are some quotes made by magazines and newspapers, with their thoughts of the film. This actually shows that newspapers think this film is good. On the right hand side on the poster it says ‘based on a true story’ which tells the audience this film has actually happened in real life, which gives the audience a bit of background knowledge about the film.
One thing that I noticed about this poster is the fade out and fade in from top to bottom of the characters on the gun. It really helps the characters look like the centre of attention. Finally at the bottom of the poster, there is the release date, using the white font is a good idea but when the red font is used it can represent blood/danger, which is good idea when making an action crime movie. So when red font is used, people look and read it, that’s why ‘7th September’ is in red font/bold writing.
