We have decided to create an opening sequence for a film. We found out (during the preliminary tasks) that making a moving image would be more of a challenge than using print.We need to find out what genre we feel there is a whole in the market for. We will be confirming the genre chosen once the qusetionnaire is made and the results are gathered.

We need to find out what genre's there is a whole in the market for. To do this we will need to make up a questionnaire and give it to students in our school. We did two questionnaire's the first one was mainly finding out what genre people liked (which was adventure/action) and the seconnd was just about adventure/action films.

We handed 20 questionnaire's out to students in our school. We feel that 20 students were more than enough people to give questionnaire's to. These answers are going to help us find out which genre there is a whole in the market for.

From the results gathered we have found out that the most popular genre chosen was adventure/action. The second most popular was horror, but we felt there are enough horror films made and decided to make an opening sequence for an adventure/action film as we feel there is a whole in the market for this genre. We have also found out that the majority of students in our school, prefer to watch films in cinema's, this information will help us decide where we are going to screen our film first. We now know that more people like 'violent' films to 'strategic' films, choosing on of these is a major part of our opening sequence, but we felt that a mixture of the both would be a very good idea, as we think it will be the most exciting for the audience. We also know that lighting plays a mojor part in an action/adventure film. I will be sure of this once I have analysed three different action/adventure films and looked closely at every part of the lighting. The audience feedback told us that they think music/soundtrack plays a major part of the excitement/adrenaline rush in a gangster film and I agree with this, when I have watched action/adventure filmsin the past I think that the music does play a major part on the excitement and think that it builds up atmosphere and tension. Especially when non-diegetic sounds are used aswell as diegteic sounds. I think when natural sounds like buses diving past. cas driving past are used aswell as a soundtrack and it can really have a big effect on an openig sequence for an action/adventure gangster film. Most people felt that a more gangster related weapon was a gun, however we feel that a mixture of weapons and settings will imrove the opening sequence.
